2005 fishing summary
The 2005 season was nothing to write home about, but some nice fish were taken. I did a horrible job taking pictures and am vowing to make good in 2006.
My first season of winter king crab diving went well. I finished the season with 6 crab. Crabbing was good for the last two weeks of febuary, otherwise spotty.
Not much dolly fishing to speak of.
Had a nice trip at Bakewell Lake out of Ketchikan. Lance and I got some nice cutts to 17 inches. Pete managed to land very few. I also got a nice hen steelhead out of the creek.
I don’t think we got any kings trolling and I snagged up four or five at the fish creek pond.
Sockeye fishing was superb at windfall and I connected everytime I went
Chum and pink fishing was solid as normal. I fished pinks in hoonah on our August trip and Barlow cove for the sow thistle pull. Caught a few of each trolling for silvers.
We had some nice days halibut fishing. Vanderbilt was about the only place we consistently got them. St. James bay and north pass also produced but spotty. 34.5 was the big one of the year. The saltwater was plagued with rough seas most of the summer
